Longhorns Snap Wolverines Win Streak with 31- 12 Beatdown at Big House

The #3 Texas Longhorns went to Michigan and proved why they are a team to beat by beating the Wolverines 31-12 in the Big House on, Saturday. The win pushes the Longhorns overall record to 2-0 on the season and also snaps the Wolverines 16 game winning streak.

The Longhorns dominated this game from their opening drive. The score is closer than the action on the field was. The Longhorns had a touchdown called back on their opening drive then missed a field goal or this thing would have been worse than it was. Michigan couldn't even find the endzone until late in the fourth quarter when the Longhorns finally put the water and towel boys in to mop things up.

A blind man could have seen this coming. Michigan lost too much after their national championship run last season. They lost their coach, starting quarterback on top of a number of other top players that are now on NFL teams.

During their first game you could see signs this was a different team even though they managed to beat Fresno State 30-10 to open the season. This week the Longhorns completely exposed the Wolverines and didn't even have to put Arch Manning in the game.

Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers was spot on for most of the game completing 24 of 36 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns. Ewers also had a pass for a touchdown to start the game that was called back thanks to a penalty.

Ewers made sure to spread the ball around. All three touchdowns went to different receivers. Gunner Helm led the way for the Longhorns with seven receptions for 98 yards and one of those touchdowns. Mathew Goldman and Jaydon Blue had the other two Longhorns touchdown receptions. They both also had six receptions for the day.

The Longhorns also had a good day on the ground with their running game racking up a combined 143 yards. Ryan Wingo had the bulk of that with one carry for 55 yards. Jerrick Gibson had 10 carries for 36 yards and the Longhorns other touchdown.

As long as the Longhorns keep playing the way they have to start this season, they may have a chance to run the table and bring home a national championship to the great state of Texas in their first year playing SEC football. It's still early though and the Longhorns are worse than the Dallas Cowboys when it comes to choking good seasons away.

While the Longhorns were solid on both sides of the ball, Michigan on the other hand was completely flat.

Michigan saw their new quarterback, Davis Warren, struggle against a dominant Longhorns defense completing 22 of 33 passes for 204 yards, one touchdown and two costly interceptions. They were also held to only 80 yards rushing on 23 combined carries.

Wide Receiver Colston Loveland led the way for the Wolverines receivers with eight receptions for 70 yards. It was Semaj Morgan that reached the endzone late in the game though to salvage something for a pathetic outing by the Wolverines offense.

Loveland also fumbled a ball away on top of the interceptions by Warren. It was just a sad day for the Wolverines newly revamped post Harbaugh offense. The defense wasn't any better than the offense. They couldn't get to Ewers at all and only had two tackles behind the line.

Things do not get any easier for the Wolverines for the rest of the season. This could be the season that Ohio State reasserts their dominance over the Big Ten.
