People have continued to ask my opinion over the 40-40 tie between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. Well, that was better than what I expected from a team that struggles to stop a fart with a buttplug when it comes to their defense.
It was not what I expected from a Packers defense featuring former Cowboys star Micah Parsons that had so much hype coming into the game struggle as bad as they did against the Cowboys offensive line that has been banged up recently. Parsons managed to tackle quarterback Dak Prescott in overtime to save a touchdown, so I guess Parsons made his money for the night. Other than that the Cowboys pretty much lived up to the lowest of expectations of the season so far through four games.
Of course, the Cowboys defense once again gave up over 500 yards of total offense and 40 points to a team this season. Neither defense could really stop anything all night long, but the Cowboys defense was just atrocious to watch at times with the huge passes they defensive backs gave up.
The Cowboys defense couldn't stop anything all night long giving up five touchdowns and two field goals. To be honest, if the Packers would have been gutsy and gone for the touchdown instead of settling for the field go for the tie they would have scored and one the game. They played it safe not to lose is what happened at the end of that game. That was the first time since Jerryworld has been standing that the Packers have not won in that building including a the Super Bowl they won to open the place up.
The Cowboys offense on other hand managed to match the Packers in points despite missing their former all Pro, over paid, drop everything since cutting a deal top receiver, CeeDee Lamb. It was George Pickens that stepped up for eight receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns. He also made a couple of wild catches to keep Cowboys drives alive.
The Cowboys were also able to move the ball on the ground again this week with running back Javonte Williams carrying the ball 20 times for 85 yards and a touchdown. Four other backs and Dak combined for the rest of the yardage that put the Cowboys over 100 yards on the ground for the fourth straight week to open the season.
Prescott was the shining star of the night throwing for three touchdowns and scrambling for another. He had a chance to scramble for the game winning touchdown in overtime but Parsons was there to track him down after only a yard gain despite wide open territory in front of him.
The Cowboys have a balanced offense and a solid kicker. It is the defense that has cost this team wins all season long. Even with DaRon Bland back the Cowboys defense still couldn't stop a nose bleed if they got one. Neither Trevon Diggs or Bland have shown up to make plays since getting paid. The money virus strikes again it seems with Bland adding to the disappointment this week. We all knew Diggs wasn't making a play but at least thought Bland would. Nope.
On to this week's game against the New York Jets in the shitty city known as the Big Apple or Jersey...Wherever that team has to ren their stadium from. This is a game the Cowboys should win with ease. But then again will probably make Jets quarterback Justin Fields look like an All Pro just like Chicago Bears quarterback looked a couple weeks ago against this horrid Cowboys defense.
