Cowboys Knock Off Giants 20-15 in a Thursday Night Snooze Fest

The Dallas Cowboys have now played four games this season and are sitting at .500 with a 2-2 record following their 20-15 win against the New York Giants on Thursday. The win was one the Cowboys needed in a bad way. It was ugly but it was a win.

The biggest surprise was how well the Cowboys defense played after their last two outings of getting blown off the field. The Cowboys defense let Giants quarterback Daniel Jones throw the ball around a little bit but shut things down when it was time. It was Giants kicker Greg Joseph that did all the scoring.

Jones finished the night with 29 of 40 completions for 281 yards. Jones put up his only interception at the end of the game when he heaved a long ball up with about :07 seconds left on the clock. That pass was picked off by Cowboys defensive back Amani Oruwariye and ended the game.

The Cowboys offense wasn't much better this week than they have been to start the season. Still pretty much a one dimensional offense that is missing a running game. Luckily the Giants defense isn't much to deal with for quarterback Dak Prescott.

Prescott finished the game with 22 of 27 completed passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Dak avoided throwing any interceptions this week and also sacked only once. Just an average game for the highest paid player in the league.

The Cowboys running game was horrid but is what it is since Jerry Jones won't bring in anybody with talent to tote the rock a little to take pressure of Dak. This week it was Rico Dowdle leading the way with 11 carries for 46 yards. Dowdle also pulled in his only reception for a 15 yard touchdown.

The most exciting play of the night came when Dak hit wide receiver CeeDee Lamb for a 55 yard touchdown early in the game. Lamb had seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown by the time the game ended.

The most "what the fuck" moment came when kicker Brandon Aubrey missed a field goal. Aubrey missed a 50 yarder late in the game but also nailed a 60 yarder. Aubrey is Mr Automatic with his leg. That miss has led to a lot of speculation about point shaving considering they were 5.5 favorites to win on most betting sheets.

Despite how ugly the win was for the Cowboys, it was a win the team needed in a bad way. The Cowboys have to face the Pittsburgh Steelers next week on Sunday night Football. The Steelers defense is a stout bunch of assholes looking to make some big plays against the Cowboys shattered dreams offense.

Hopefully the Cowboys will get DaRon Bland back to help stiffen up their defense against the Steelers questionable offense. Bland has been out all season with a broken foot from preseason. Bland will be a breath of fresh air if he comes back playing at the level he was when that foot snapped.
