Cowboys Put Steelers to Bed with a 20-17 win on Monday Morning

It didn't seem like this game was ever gonna start. Then it seemed like it wasn't going to end. When the clock finally hit 00:00 in the fourth quarter it was Monday morning for a lot of us east of the Rocky Mountains.

It was all worth the wait though when the Dallas Cowboys managed to pull off an ugly 20-17 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their Sunday night matchup on primetime/latenight television.

Once the game finally kicked almost an hour and a half behind schedule we saw pretty much the same lackluster Cowboys team we have seen the last three weeks. A team that struggles to move the ball on the ground. A team that eats up a lot of passing yards but hits a wall in the redzone. A team that has allowed more yards with a defense that was praised to be one the best in the history of the game before the season started. Just a sloppy football team.

This week we saw the same ole Dak Prescott running the offense. Just a poor decision maker that tried a couple times to give the game away. A player that eats up a bunch of money but continues to under perform week in and out. This week Prescott completed 29 of 42 passes for 352 yards, two touchdowns(in the redzone), two interceptions and was sacked a couple times causing him to fumble the ball.

Even though the running game has been probably the worst in the league this season, the Cowboys actually managed to piece together a 109 game as a collective. It was Rico Dowdle leading the way with 20 carries for 87 yards. Ezekiel Elliot managed 17 yards the six times he touched the ball.

Dowdle also shined a bit in the passing game with two receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown. Jalen Tolbert led the way with seven receptions for 87 yards and the Cowboys game winning touchdown. Tight end Jake Ferguson had six receptions for 70 yards and CeeDee Lamb came in with five receptions for 62 yards.

The Cowboys defense looked a little better this week compared to the last three but come on, lets be real. They played a bum ass Steelers offense that is still trying to find a quarterback.

The defense managed to hold the Steelers to 135 yards passing and 92 total on the ground even with the two turnovers by Dak. The defense managed to sack Steelers quarterback Justin Fields three times and also forced a fumble.

They did this with all-defensive player Micah Parsons on the field this week. The defense was also missing defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence and cornerback DaRon Bland.

Luckily the Cowboys were playing the Steelers or things could have been a lot worse with Dak turning the ball over the way he did. The Cowboys need to clean that mess up fast. They also need to figure something out with their running game to take some of the pressure off Dak.

All these teams know that the Cowboys offense is a pass heavy offense since their running backs fall over when they get touched. Not having a running game will keep the Cowboys from going anywhere once again even though us fans say, "It's our year" every year.

The Cowboys have Dalvin Cook in camp but for some reason won't use him in games. Even if Cook is still learning the offense he has to be better than what is out there now Especially Zeke, that guy has been a bum since he signed his big contract. That guy got paid and forgot how to play football. It's time to put Cook in and see what he still has left in the tank.

Hopefully the defense will get some of these injured players back. The Cowboys need Parsons, Lawrence and Bland healthy and on the field. If the Cowboys could get Bland and cornerback Trevon

This was a much needed win by the Cowboys. This is a team that has struggled all season long but have managed to piece together a 3-2 record so far. They are still a game behind the Washington Redskins and a half game lead on the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East though.

This week the Cowboys face a tough Detroit Lions team at home. Both the Cowboys losses this season have been in front of their home fans. Hopefully the Cowboys defense can step up to shutdown the Lions fierce offense. If not it's gonna be another long hot afternoon.
