NFL Offseason is in Full Swing with Some Big Names Staying Put and Some Moving Around

The 2025 NFL season got off to a wild start with a number of top players finding themselves with new teams. Some players that were looking for new teams have also decided that there is no place like home with new contracts with the teams they are currently with. Players will be able to officially sign their new deals this Wednesday.

The biggest name out there looking to move was the Cleveland Browns defensive star, Myles Garrett. In the end Garrett decided it was best to sign a new contract with the Browns that will make him the highest non quarterback in NFL history. Amazing how money can change minds from wanting to leave one minute to being happy right where he is the next.

DK Metcalf has been traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers even though he requested to go to a team in a warm climate with stability at quarterback. The Steelers have neither of what Metcalf requested but he is out of the organization that made him the star he is today.

During six seasons with the Seahawks, Metcalf has played in 97 games where he has made 438 receptions for 6, 324 yards and 48 touchdowns.

Metcalf is a player the Steelers will be able to depend on. The problem is, the Steelers are a team that is in a rebuilding stage right now. It is going to take more than a wide receiver to get this team on track in the 2025 season.

Sam Darnold has signed with the Seattle Seahawks following a stellar 2024 year with the Minnesota Vikings. Darnold stepped up when he was signed after rookie JJ McCarthy went down in training camp with an injury. It was the first season Darnold actually produced decent numbers since being drafted in 2018 by the New York Jets.

Darnold played all 17 games for the Vikings last season. He led the team to a 14-3 record, that included a five-game win streak and a nine-game win streak. The Vikings finished the season with a 27-9 wildcard loss against the Loss Angeles Rams despite earning the second overall seed in the playoffs.

Darnold's new deal with the Seahawks is for three seasons worth $100.5 million, including $55 million guaranteed. The Seahawks will be his fifth team to play for. Maybe this one will be where he wins the big game and retires.

Geno Smith is headed to Las Vegas to play for the Raiders for the 2025 season. Smith has spent the last three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks where he replaced Super Bowl Champion quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Raiders sent a third-round pick to the Seahawks for the services of Smith. He will join former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas this upcoming season. The Raiders are still miles away from being competitive team. Hopefully there are more surprises up Carroll's sleeve.

The Raiders are not the only team that is trying to replace their starting quarterback this season. The New York Jets signed free agent Justin Fields to a two-year deal worth $40 million with $30 million guaranteed, on Monday.

Now that Fields has signed with the Jets, the Steelers are left without either one of their starting quarterbacks from last season. Russell Wilson is still on the free agent market but will surely find a home sooner or later. Or will he?

Davante Adams is a wide receiver that needs to find a place where he can shine, again. When Adams came into the league he was one of the best at his position. Since leaving Green Bay, Adams went to the Raiders only to be traded to the New York Jets midseason to be let go with his buddy Aaron Rodgers aka. Brett Favre Jr when they failed to do anything positive.

Now that Adams is with the LA Rams maybe he can find that success once again with Mathew Stafford throwing him the ball. Adams signed a two-year deal with the Rams and will join a receiving corp that is one of the tops in the league when healthy.

Javonte Williams will be heading to the Dallas Cowboys it seems. The Cowboys have agreed to a one-year deal worth $3 million with Williams. This is definitely a plus for a team that struggled horribly on the ground last season...And the season before...And the season before that.

The Cowboys are a team that needs to address their diminished offensive line before signing running backs that may or may not work out. Williams will be a solid addiction as long as he can stay healthy, and the Cowboys line can open holes for him.
